Dwayne Bowe

The Kansas City Chiefs were awful last season. The team has hit a new low and that’s why they may need to jettison contracts in the hopes of building a new team for 2013 fantasy football. The Chiefs don’t have many big contracts to drop. That’s with the exception of Dwayne Bowe who hits free agency this offseason. KC is going to be a hard sell for Bowe because he’s been there for so long and he’s never even come close to winning a playoff game. There was one playoff appearance but never did he have a franchise quarterback throwing to him. Bowe hits the open market as one of the most valuable receivers in 2013 fantasy football but the question of where he’ll end up is open-ended. Bowe could be a number one somewhere but he’s probably better suited as a top end number two in the NFL.

He fits the body mold of players like TJ Houshmandzadeh who make great second wideouts. With that in mind he could make a great addition to the Saints organization or the Buccaneers. He could also land with a young signal caller like Luck in Indianapolis or Wilson in Seattle. The best place for him would probably be Chicago or Detroit though because both teams have top notch number one wideouts and nothing at number two. Bowe can be the number one too and it may lead to more points for him in 2013 fantasy football but we have to be realistic. He’s going to be good no matter where he goes and really there’s no place than KC for wide receivers right now. He’s going to choose a team with a franchise quarterback so eliminate Arizona and Jacksonville from the conversation right now. He’ll be in a different uniform next year but no matter where it is it’s better than what he has right now.

The Chiefs are going to be one of the better teams in the NFL if they can make a lot of changes and get the same type of production out of their best players from a year ago. Unfortunately, that seems a bit unlikely when it is all said and done. A lot of teams are going to be hoping that they get some contributions from their star players as well. The only thing people need to worry about when it comes to the Chiefs is progression.
